Basic Info
Name:halved_esper
Birthdate:1985-09-12
Bio
Character Name; Terra Branford
Series/Fandom; Final Fantasy VI

Age; 18
Gender;female
Species;half human/esper
Sexuality; straight

Appearance; Pale, green-blond hair and light blue eyes. She is petite in appearance and of average height. Her skin is pale in color. Her face is an oval shape. She wears white stockings with flower designs and a purple sash around her waist. On her feet are ankle length red boots. The boots are red, the top and the heel are trimmed with gold. Her top is sleeveless and red, also with floral designs. The neck cut is oval shaped. She has red arm covering that begin at her wrist and stop and her elbow. She has a sheer, see through cape that stops at her ankles. Very simple jewelry – a necklace adorned with stones and a few gold bracelets. She likes to wear a ribbon in her hair; it’s usually up in a high ponytail. The color of the ribbon varies; sometimes pink, sometimes red, whatever suits her fancy. Sometimes, she has bronze shoulder armor but it depend on the situation. Sometimes, also depending on the situation, she may carry a simple sword at her side. It has a golden hilt.

Personality; Terra had been under the control of others for a very long time; when she awakened to herself it was like meeting an intelligent child with no memory. This, and the knowledge of how different she was from normal humans truly made her feel her own loneliness. Having no friends until she met the Returners caused her to feel strongly about creating bonds with others and discovering love. She doesn’t fully realize it, but she is a very kind, caring, selfless individual. Despite her reluctance and uncertainty she joined the Returners in their fight because she knew a person like her was needed, especially in troubled times. She’s loyal and she would protect the people she cares about even at the cost of her life. She is a bit impatient on the downside though. She doesn’t like to be without answers. When she asks General Leo about love, it shows. He tells her it is something she will learn over a course of time, but she responds that she wants to know ‘now.’ In her brainwashed state, she never had a chance to create ties with people so often she doesn’t recognize what her own emotions mean. Actually, she knows a lot more about love than she thinks, it shows in her actions. In Mobliz, when the children orphaned by Kefka’s cruelty reached out to her she took to them right away. She preferred to stay and be their guardian rather than fight. She actually breaks down and cries after a battle defending them from a monster, because she realizes that what she has been feeling all alone has been love. Terra grows a lot during the course of the story. As she fights alongside the Returners and learns of her true origins she begins to grow more self-assured. At the end it was Terra who was the first to speak up against Kefka when he asked them why they clung to life in a world that had been decimated and was looking bleaker each day. After all, everyone will die someday. Terra responded that it wasn’t knowing that she would happen someday that mattered, but knowing where she was in the present and the people in the present that she cared for. She also confronted a powerful Esper that was sealed in order to learn who she was. There’s no question about her bravery when it comes time to show it.

Abilities/Strengths; Her Trance ability enables her to unlock her Esper side, doubling her attack strength as well as boosting her magic. However this limit is not inexhaustible and she will eventually revert back to Human. She can summon Espers if she has magicite. She can use black and white magic. Terra also possesses a special attack at low health called Riot Blade, in which she throws laser rings at one enemy. Physically and emotionally, Terra is resilient. She remembered her name almost immediately after the slave crown came off. She also has a way of reaching inward and releasing the strongest of her abilities when the need is great.
Weaknesses; Well damn….this is hard. She’s not really weak at all. I suppose then, her tendency to self- sacrifice. It can be used against her. She was hesitant about joining the Returners, but she ultimately gave in for the greater good. She’s can be a little bit too easily persuaded to do things if she is convinced it will help someone. Despite her time of enslavement to the Empire, she can be overly trusting and she doesn’t fully realize how strong she is. She underestimates herself.
Notable Possessions;none really.

History;
She was not originally from the world of Humans. Terra is the daughter of the Esper Maduin and a human mother, Madeline. Her place of birth was the Esper’s world. She fell into the Empire’s hands when she was an infant when that world was assaulted. As a result, Terra was raised as a soldier of the Empire after Gestahl's forces attacked the Espers' home and captured several of their people. Her potential was quickly realized when she destroyed fifty Magitek soldiers in a single exercise.

The story opens with Terra being under the control of a slave crown, leading an assault on the mining town of Narshe. An encounter with a frozen Esper in the mines breaks the crown’s control over her, reawakening her free will but leaving her with amnesia. She is taken into the home of one of the men in town to recover. However, shortly upon awakening and recalling nothing but her name, she is forced to flee from the vengeful town people and into the mines where a thief named Locke rescues her. It is through Locke that she comes to learn of the anti-empire group called the Returners.

In the meantime, the Empire is not taking the loss of its greatest weapon lying down. Before actually reaching the hideout of the Returners, she is pursued through the desert of Figaro by Kefka, Gestahl’s court mage and right hand man. Through the efforts of Figaro’s king, Edward, they outwit Kefka and escape with Terra. They are pursued by magitek armor, but Terra wards them off with magic..

After the destruction of the floating continent, Terra is separated from the party. She ends up in the ruins of Mobliz and immediately becomes the mentor and protector of the children orphaned by Kefka’s onslaught. She ultimately lost the will to fight upon seeing this tragedy until the monster Humbaba appeared and threatened Mobliz. It did not look like the monster would be defeated until Terra burst into Trance and assisted her old teammates in taking him down. After this battle, she rejoins the fight against Kefka telling the children that she has to go away for a while to make the world safe for them again.

Upon defeating Kefa, the magic begins to fade and espers can no longer exist in that world. They pass away, but due her human side and her attachment to those she loves, Terra does not fade away but remains as a real human in the end.
